When a Text Case Converter Is Useful

Examples of when changing text to uppercase, lowercase, title case or sentence case can save editing time.

Cleaning copied text

Text copied from a spreadsheet, old document or another system can arrive in an awkward mixture of capitalisation. A case converter can give you a consistent starting point before you edit the details.

Headings and labels

Uppercase is sometimes useful for labels, while sentence or title-style capitalisation can make headings easier to read. Choose the case based on the purpose rather than applying the same style to everything.

Check names and acronyms

Automatic conversion cannot know that β€œeBay”, β€œiPhone”, β€œMRA” or a person’s surname has a special spelling. Always scan the converted result for proper names, abbreviations and brand names.

Conversion is an editing aid

The tool changes the pattern of capital letters; it does not understand the meaning of your writing. Treat the result as a first pass and make the final editorial decisions yourself.
